Planning a Jewish wedding is about more than picking a beautiful space. It is about honoring traditions, creating meaningful moments, and ensuring every detail flows seamlessly. About half of my clients are Jewish or come from mixed backgrounds, and over the years I have learned that the right venue can make all the difference. My journey in hospitality began in Malaysia with the Four Seasons, where I learned that exceptional service is at the heart of every unforgettable experience. I spent 16 years at the Drake Hotel honing my expertise in luxury events and Jewish weddings. Later, I became Director of Catering at the Langham Chicago, named the number one hotel in Chicago and number three in the U.S. It was there that I started offering kosher weddings, helping couples bring their vision to life in a venue that had never hosted them before. These experiences taught me that understanding the nuances of Jewish traditions, from the chuppah to the ketubah signing to kosher catering, is essential for creating seamless celebrations. Many venues are unfamiliar with the requirements, and having a knowledgeable planner makes a significant difference in ensuring that all customs are respected without compromising style or elegance.
For many couples, location is deeply meaningful. Some choose Israel to connect with spiritual or familial roots. Actress Odelya Halevi, for example, held her wedding in Israel because the land and its history added a unique depth to her celebration. Weddings in Mexico’s Riviera Maya or in Napa Valley allow friends and family to stay together for rehearsal dinners, ceremonies, and brunches, turning the wedding into a memorable weekend experience. Israel itself remains a perennial favorite, with couples often selecting spots overlooking Jerusalem’s Old City or coastal gardens that allow them to honor traditions while creating a deeply personal celebration.
