Why I Choose Sorrento for My Destination Weddings
When couples ask me about the Amalfi Coast, many expect me to say Positano. And yes, it’s stunning. But more often than not, I guide them toward Sorrento – and there’s a reason.
Sorrento gives you the beauty people imagine when they think of southern Italy, but with far fewer logistical headaches.
It’s just about an hour from Naples International Airport, which makes guest transfers manageable. For destination weddings, accessibility is not a detail – it shapes the entire experience. If 100 guests arrive relaxed instead of exhausted from complicated routes, the mood of the wedding already changes.
For several years with Giritaly Weddings & Events, I’ve designed full wedding journeys in Sorrento – not only ceremony and dinner, but multi-day celebrations.
A typical flow looks like this:
- Welcome dinner overlooking the Bay of Naples
- A boat day experience to Capri
- The wedding day with sea views and sunset light
- A relaxed farewell brunch the morning after
Sorrento allows that rhythm. Guests stay close to each other. Venues are structured for events. Hotels understand international weddings. That combination makes my job smoother – and gives couples more freedom to enjoy their people.
What I Always Tell My Couples
Season matters.
May, June, and September are my favorites. July and August are beautiful but hot and crowded. October can be magical, but sunset timing needs to be planned carefully.
Legal ceremonies require preparation.
Symbolic ceremonies give more flexibility in venue choice and timing. If a couple wants a legal Italian wedding, we start paperwork early and manage timelines precisely.
Guest experience goes beyond the wedding day.
Cooking classes, limoncello tastings, private boat tours, exploring historic streets – Sorrento makes it easy to turn a wedding into a shared travel experience.
Why I Personally Love Working Here
Sorrento offers that Amalfi Coast atmosphere without the operational pressure of smaller cliffside towns. I can focus on design, guest comfort, and flow – not just transport logistics.
And when planning becomes smoother, creativity expands.
My couples leave Sorrento not only with beautiful photos, but with the feeling that their wedding was a true journey – for them and for everyone who traveled to celebrate with them.
That’s why I keep coming back.
