A Practical Guide to Searching Venues on WVD
Wedding Venues Directory helps planners, couples, event professionals and hospitality buyers search selected wedding and event venues across different destinations.
You can use WVD when you already know the destination, when you are still comparing countries, or when you need to build a shortlist of venues based on practical event requirements such as guest capacity, distance from the airport, venue category or event type.
Below is a simple guide to help you search, save and compare venues on WVD.
Start from the Homepage
The homepage is the easiest place to begin if you want a quick search.
You can search venues by:
- hotel or venue name (if you know what exactly you are searching for);
- destination (country or region);
- type of event (wedding, pre or post wedding party, corporate event, social event, accommodation).
This option is useful when you already have a name in mind, when you want to check available venues in a specific destination, or when you are searching for a venue suitable for a particular type of celebration or event.
After entering your search details, click Search and review the venues shown in the results.
Search by Destination
You can also start from the Explore Destinations page.
This option is helpful when you want to browse venues by country or destination before choosing specific properties. Click on the destination you are interested in. You will see a preview of venues currently listed in that destination. Soon, each destination page will also include destination descriptions and a more detailed venue list, making it easier to understand the location before reviewing individual properties.
Use this route when you are comparing several destinations or when the location is the first decision in your planning process.
Use the Main Venue Search Page
For a more detailed search, where you can easily see venues on map and at once, go to the Search Venues page.
This is the best option when you want to filter venues by specific event requirements. You can narrow your search using the following filters:
- Destination – choose the country or region you are interested in.
- Recommended for – select the type of event you are planning (wedding, pre or post wedding party, corporate event, social event, accommodation).
- Number of stars – filter hotels by star rating.
- Distance from airport – useful when logistics and guest transfers matter.
- Max guests – search by the maximum number of guests the venue can host.
This search method is especially useful for planners and event professionals who need to prepare a venue shortlist based on clear client requirements.
!IMPORTANT: Hotels and venues are separate categories. When you use this variant of search, switch between tabs “Hotels” & “Venues” to see the available options.Â
Review Venue Cards
After searching, you will see venue cards with key information. Each card gives you a quick overview of the property and allows you to take several actions:
Quick view
Use Quick view when you want to check the main venue details without opening the full profile immediately. This is useful when you are browsing several venues and want to understand which ones deserve a closer look.
Bookmark (available for registered users only)
Use Bookmark to save venues, events you want to return to later. If you are registered and logged in, your bookmarked items will be saved in your personal Dashboard.
Add to comparison
Use Add to comparison when you want to compare several venues side by side. This is especially helpful when you are deciding between properties with similar locations, capacities or event formats.
Open the Full Venue Profile
When a venue looks relevant, open its full profile for more detailed information. A venue profile may include practical details such as:
- venue description;
- location;
- destination;
- venue type;
- recommended event types;
- hotel or venue category;
- maximum guest capacity;
- distance from airport;
- accommodation information;
- event spaces;
- photo gallery;
- contact details;
- useful links.
Use the full profile to understand whether the venue matches the event concept, guest number, logistics and overall planning requirements.
You can send e-mail or call the venue directly from it’s page. If you click the button “Send an email” you will be immediately transferred to your email client and you will be able to write a letter, send it directly to venue and receive reply without coming back to WVD.
Save Venues with Bookmarks
If you want to return to a venue later, use the Bookmark option. Registered users can find saved items in their personal Dashboard.
To access your saved items:
- Sign in to your WVD account.
- Go to your Dashboard.
- Open the Bookmarks section.
- Review the venues and other listings you saved.
This is useful when you are creating a shortlist, comparing options for a client, or collecting venues before contacting them. Bookmarks are available for different WVD listings. Soon, WVD will also include a Planners category, which will make the saved-list function even more useful for professional research.
Compare Venues
The comparison option is available from the main venue search page. To compare venues:
- Go to the Search Venues page.
- Browse the venue results.
- Click Add to comparison on the venues you want to review together.
- In the bottom of your screen a button “Compare items” will appear. Press it.
- Check the venue details side by side.
The comparison tool helps you evaluate venues using practical criteria such as destination, venue type, event suitability, capacity, accommodation, airport distance, contacts and other key details. Use comparison when you need to make a decision faster or present several venue options to a client, couple or event team.
Choose the Best Search Route for Your Task
Different users search in different ways. Here is the simplest way to choose where to start.
If you know the venue or hotel name –Â start from the homepage and search by name.
If you know the destination –Â use the homepage search or go to Explore Destinations.
If you are still choosing the destination – start from Explore Destinations and review available venues by country.
If you have clear event requirements –Â go directly to Search Venues and use filters such as destination, event type, stars, airport distance and maximum guest capacity.
If you are preparing a shortlist –Â use Search Venues, open relevant profiles, bookmark the strongest options and add selected venues to comparison.
Do You Need to Register?
You can browse WVD and search venues without creating an account. Registration is recommended if you want to save venues and return to them later. With a registered account, you can use bookmarks and access your saved items from your Dashboard. This is useful for planners, couples and event professionals who need more than one search session before making a decision.
