Beyond her client work, Martina is also a Nikon Wedding Educator and international speaker, dedicated to mentoring the next generation of photographers.
We sat down with Martina to uncover the story behind her career, her philosophy, and the unforgettable moments she’s captured.
What first drew you to photography – was it weddings, or something else?
“I never planned on being a photographer,” Martina admits with a smile. “In high school, I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do in life, but I started experimenting with photography and it became a passion.”
Her early portfolio was rooted in portraits and fashion. Weddings weren’t even on her radar – until she took on a few to help balance the costs of her growing equipment collection. That’s when everything clicked.
“Weddings combined everything I loved – portraits, fashion, events, product, even a little landscape photography. And it was never repetitive or boring.”
In fact, Martina’s first wedding happened far earlier than she realized. “Technically, I was just 7 years old. My parents were witnesses at a tiny wedding and my dad handed me the analogue camera to capture the couple signing their papers. Apparently, I did a great job -it just took me another decade to realize it myself!”
How do you define a successful wedding photo or film?
For Martina, success is measured not in Instagram likes or industry features, but in her couples’ reactions.
“At the end of the day, we’re not creating content. We are capturing a story,” she explains. “A wedding photo is successful when my couple looks at it and says, ‘This is exactly how it felt,’ or ‘That’s totally us.’ That’s the win.”
She believes the essence of wedding photography lies in service: “Our job isn’t to impress colleagues – it’s to give couples and their families the gift of memories that will live on for decades.”
What’s the most extravagant detail you’ve ever photographed?
Martina has seen her share of extraordinary celebrations, but a few remain unforgettable.
“One was a lavish Middle Eastern wedding where guests entered through a pathway lined with custom terrariums, each filled with 10,000 live butterflies. It was surreal.”
Another, at a private residence, was transformed into an entertainment wonderland. “The couple built a full ice-skating rink, where performers delivered a fire show on ice. It was theatrical, unexpected, and pure magic to capture.”
From childhood snapshots to spectacular productions, Martina’s journey proves that wedding photography is both an art and a service. With her signature mix of intimacy and grandeur, she continues to transform fleeting moments into timeless treasures – reminding us that the greatest measure of success is always the client’s joy.
Sincerely yours,
