When Italy Meets Azerbaijan in Latvia: My Most Exciting Wedding Stories Yet by Inga Bērziņa (Bannte Events)

What is (or was) the most exciting experience for you planning a wedding for your couple? What is the story behind?

Looking back on these 13 years, there have been so many “yes” moments and beautiful stories woven around each couple, it’s truly hard to pick just one. However, I’d love to share two distinct stories with you.

One of the most memorable ones for me is how we brought together seemingly disparate worlds. The bride was Azerbaijani, having spent her childhood and with her family living in Latvia, while the groom was Italian.

They wished to celebrate their wedding in Latvia and wanted to share a piece of everything that was important to them with their guests from all over the globe. They envisioned blending Italian fun and the joy of flavors. They wanted their Italian guests to experience the richness of typical Azerbaijani cuisine. And they hoped to showcase at least a glimpse of Latvian wedding traditions.

Their roots were deeply important to them, and they wanted their guests to experience this beautiful diversity and their core values firsthand. It wasn’t the easiest task, but we made it happen. Our aim was to create a wedding that felt heartfelt, genuinely reflecting the couple’s values, rather than just being a random mix of elements.

Step by step, my team and I pieced this puzzle together. We were building a grand picture from small, personal narratives. It was a wonderful experience, not only for the guests but for us as well. Everything unfolded even more beautifully than we could have imagined. We approached this story with such care, wanting to dispel the couple’s doubts about whether it was even possible to connect all these elements and plan it with taste.

And to add a little extra zest to this story, their wedding photographers were French!

The second wedding story holds a particularly special place in my professional experience, as I felt an unusual resonance with the bride on a personal level. Our visions for the celebration, aesthetic tastes, family values, energy, and even worldviews seemed remarkably aligned.

A deep sense of familial warmth and the creation of a stable foundation were central to this wedding and its celebration. Every visual detail and nuanced element was thoughtfully considered and justified, ensuring a cohesive concept throughout. Each choice – from the décor to the sequence of events – had a clear and meaningful rationale.

These two days were truly saturated with emotion, commencing with the early morning preparations and culminating in a profoundly moving conclusion. Needless to say, tears of joy graced the cheeks of many guests, creating an indescribably beautiful and heartfelt atmosphere.

Although the bride and I had meticulously planned every nuance of the celebration, there were also genuinely touching surprises orchestrated by the guests. They had prepared deeply personal performances, which we seamlessly integrated into the flow of the day, strategically anticipating emotionally significant moments to further amplify the couple’s experience.

These two-day festivities took place at one of Latvia’s most exquisite celebration venues – Rūmene Manor. Our initial vision was for an open-air celebration, aiming to subtly infuse a touch of Italian charm. Considering Latvia’s variable weather conditions, this presented a significant challenge, yet these two days felt like a gift – the weather was perfect, and our carefully crafted plan unfolded flawlessly.
